Shelly Palmer Radio Report – May 12, 2014

Search engines get better all the time, but rarely do they get more exciting. Vurb, which recently won startup showcase TechCrunch Disrupt, looks to reinvent the search engine. Vurb is a contextual search engine that collects all the relevant info you want and presents it in a saveable, shareable stream. Think of it like this. If you search for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Google, you’ll get a bunch of links and some local showtimes. A Vurb search gives you a card filled with the film’s IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes scores, a list of the stars, a brief plot overview, and buttons to watch the film’s trailer or to read reviews. If you decide what theater you want to see the film at, Vurb will show you Yelp reviews, recent Foursquare check-ins, nearby restaurants and more. Vurb has rolled out search for Places, Movies and Media, and plans to add People, Startups and more in the near future. To give Vurb a try, head over to Vurb.com and sign up today.
